DOWNTOWN DENVER PARTNERSHIP HONORS
7 WINNERS AT 47TH ANNUAL DOWNTOWN DENVER AWARDS

 

The Downtown Denver Partnership honored seven award winners on May 21 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center during the 47th Annual Downtown Denver Awards, sponsored by Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, P.C. As a celebration of achievements in the Downtown Denver community, seven winners were selected by a jury from an impressive list of diverse nominees. Over 950 individuals attended the 2008 Awards Dinner.

2007 Downtown Denver Annual Awards Winners:

Denver Urban Renewal Authority: For fifty years of civic entrepreneurship, enabling redevelopment projects that improve our urban areas and enhance the vibrancy of Downtown Denver.

 

2007 Downtown Area Plan Steering Committee: For leading the highly participatory process to create the vision for Downtown Denver and its growth over the next twenty years.

 

16th Street Pedestrian Bridges: For creating a series of much-needed pedestrian connections between Downtown Denver, the Central Platte Valley and the Highland neighborhoods.

 

Denver’s Road Home: For developing and effectively implementing a nationally recognized model for moving homeless individuals off the streets and in to housing and treatment facilities.

 

The Curtis Complex: For its ingenuity in packaging a playful and fun boutique hotel, outstanding dining, and valuable student housing in one complex, adding new vitality to 14th Street.

 

The Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver: For creating a distinctive environment for the presentation of the art and ideas of contemporary artists, enriching Downtown Denver’s cultural vibrancy while garnering worldwide attention.


2007 Rickenbaugh Community Service Award Winner:

Dennis Humphries: For utilizing his architectural experience to serve as a volunteer for community projects while demonstrating a passion for preservation, collaboration, education and community focused architecture.
